Rita's Italian Ice on 5th Avenue in Oakland offered free cups of flavor ice last Friday, March 20. According to manager Rocky Rodebaugh, Rita's gave away approximately 3000 free samples. At some points during the day, a line of more than 75 people stretched along 5th Avenue, down Oakland Avenue, and onto Forbes.
